Safety first: Unplug the opener before opening the housing. Capacitors can hold a charge; discharge safely if replacing.
- 1. Disconnect door: Pull the emergency release and ensure the door moves freely by hand.
- 2. Inspect drive mechanism: Remove the cover and check for jammed gears, broken parts, or obstructions around the motor shaft and sprocket.
- 3. Check start capacitor: On AC motor Linear units, locate the cylindrical capacitor. If it is bulging or leaking, replace it with an identical rated part.
