Possible Causes
Faulty internal travel encoder or sensor, Loose encoder wheel on motor shaft, Damaged wiring between encoder and board, Control board processing error
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing internal components.
- Check for obvious mechanical slip: Verify the drive sprocket is tight on the motor shaft and the chain/belt is not skipping teeth. Tighten set screws as needed.
- Inspect encoder (if accessible): Some Marantec models use an optical or magnetic encoder on the motor shaft. Ensure the encoder wheel is not cracked or loose and the sensor is properly positioned.
- Reset opener: Perform a full power reset and reprogram travel limits. Sometimes encoder errors clear after a fresh learn cycle.
- If error persists: Replace the encoder assembly if it is a separate part, or replace the entire opener head/control board if the encoder is integrated.
