Possible Causes
Up limit setting misadjusted, Travel memory corrupted by power interruption, Worn drive belt/chain slipping under load, Faulty travel sensor in opener head
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure the door is not hitting any overhead obstructions (sprinkler pipes, low ceiling, etc.).
- Check for physical stops: Verify that the top section of the door is not contacting the opener rail, header, or any ceiling fixtures. Adjust hardware if necessary.
- Reprogram up limit: Enter the Marantec travel programming mode. Use the control buttons to move the door to the desired fully open position, leaving some clearance between the top of the door and the rail/ceiling. Save the setting per the manual.
- Inspect drive tension: Examine the chain or belt along the rail. Adjust the tension nut so there is a small amount of slack but no jumping on start/stop. Replace a frayed or cracked belt.
- Test operation: Run several full open/close cycles. If the opener consistently stops short and reverts to code 5, the internal travel sensor or control board may be defective.
