Possible Causes
Stuck wall button, Shorted wall control wiring, Neighbor's remote on same code (older fixed‑code models), Faulty receiver
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Until resolved, disconnect power or use the manual lock to secure the door when away.
- Inspect wall button: Ensure the button is not jammed or stuck in the pressed position. Replace if it feels spongy or intermittently stuck.
- Check wall wiring: Look for crushed or shorted low‑voltage cable between wall station and opener. Repair or replace as needed.
- Erase and reprogram remotes: On Merlin models with learn memory, press and hold the Learn button until the LED flashes to erase all remotes. Then reprogram only your own remotes.
- Monitor for recurrence: If the problem persists after these steps, the receiver or control board may be faulty and require replacement.
