Possible Causes
Swollen timber door, New thicker bottom seal, Slightly low down limit setting, Obstruction in bottom track (tilt doors)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Keep hands clear of the bottom of the door while adjusting.
- Inspect bottom edge: Check for debris, stones, or ice preventing full closure. Remove any obstructions.
- Check seal thickness: If a new, thicker seal was installed, slightly increase the down travel limit so the door compresses the seal properly.
- Adjust down limit: Use the Merlin controls to nudge the closed position down a few millimeters. Do not over‑adjust to avoid excessive pressure.
- Test with paper strip: Place a strip of paper under the door and close. You should feel slight resistance when pulling it out, indicating a good seal.
