Possible Causes
Internal RF module failure, Antenna wire broken or disconnected, Control board RF section damaged, External interference
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before opening the housing.
- Check antenna: Locate the thin antenna wire exiting the Merlin opener housing. Ensure it is intact, not cut, and hanging down freely. Do not coil it tightly around metal.
- Reprogram a remote: Press the "Learn" or "Code" button on the opener until the LED lights. Press the remote button as instructed in the manual. If the learn LED does not respond, the RF section may be faulty.
- Test multiple remotes: Try at least two known‑good Merlin Security+ or E960/E970 series remotes (depending on model). If none program, suspect the receiver.
- Check for interference: Turn off nearby wireless devices (Wi‑Fi routers, LED lights with drivers) temporarily and test again.
- Replace receiver/board: On models with a plug‑in receiver card, replace the RF module. On integrated designs, the entire control board must be replaced.
