Photo eyes misaligned or not powered, Broken photo eye wire, Incorrect sensor wiring at control board, Defective photo eye
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Never bypass or tape over safety sensors. They are required for safe operation.
- Check sensor LEDs: Confirm both Mighty Mule safety sensors have solid indicator lights. If one is off or flickering, adjust alignment or check wiring.
- Clean lenses: Wipe the sensor lenses with a soft cloth to remove dust and cobwebs.
- Verify wiring: Ensure the sensor wires are connected to the correct terminals on the opener (usually marked for safety sensors). Tighten loose screws and correct any reversed polarity if specified in the manual.
- Repair or replace wiring: If the wire jacket is cut or pinched, run new low-voltage cable from the opener to each sensor.
- Replace sensors: If wiring and alignment are correct but the LEDs will not stay on, replace the sensor pair with a Mighty Mule-compatible kit.
