How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and pull the emergency release. Ensure the door is not locked or secured with a manual lock.
- Check for manual locks: Verify any slide locks or hasps on the door are fully disengaged.
- Inspect rail and trolley: Look for bends, dents, or foreign objects in the rail. Ensure the trolley moves freely when the door is disconnected.
- Adjust chain/belt tension: If the chain or belt is extremely tight, loosen it slightly per Mighty Mule specifications. Over-tension can overload the motor.
- Test door balance: Confirm the door moves easily by hand. If not, have springs and hardware serviced.
- Gear inspection: Remove the opener cover and inspect the drive gear and sprocket. If plastic gears are stripped or metal shavings are present, replace the gear and sprocket kit or the entire drive assembly.
