Possible Causes
Corrupted remote memory in control board, Excessive number of programmed devices, Static discharge or surge event, Failing logic board EEPROM
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Work with dry hands and avoid static discharge when touching the control board.
- Clear memory: Press and hold the LEARN button on the Mighty Mule opener for 10–15 seconds until the LED blinks or goes out, indicating all remotes and keypads have been erased.
- Reprogram devices: Program each remote and wireless keypad again following the manual. Test each device after programming.
- Limit device count: Avoid programming more remotes/keypads than the opener’s specified capacity.
- Surge protection: Install a surge protector on the opener’s outlet to reduce future memory corruption from power spikes.
- Board replacement: If codes are repeatedly lost or the 12-flash error returns after clearing and reprogramming, the logic memory on the control board is likely failing and the board should be replaced.
