Possible Causes

Wall console lock button engaged, Shorted wall control wires, Defective wall console, Miswired wall control terminals on control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power to the opener before removing any covers or touching terminals.

  • Check wall console lock: On the Mighty Mule wall station, look for a lock or vacation button. Press and hold for 3–5 seconds to toggle the lock function off. Try operating the door again.
  • Inspect wall control wiring: Remove the wall console from the wall. Check the two low-voltage wires for frays or shorts. Tighten the terminal screws and ensure no bare copper is touching.
  • Bypass test: At the opener head, disconnect the wall control wires from the terminals. Briefly short the wall control terminals with a small insulated jumper wire. If the opener runs, the wall console or its wiring is faulty.
  • Replace components: If bypass works, replace the wall console and, if needed, run new low-voltage cable from the opener to the console.
  • Board check: If bypass does not work and wiring is good, the wall control input on the control board may be damaged and the board may need replacement.
