Possible Causes

Damaged antenna wire, Radio frequency interference, Failed onboard RF receiver, Incorrect remote programming

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Work with power off when accessing internal electronics. Do not short any terminals.

  • Check remote basics: Replace the remote battery and verify the LED on the remote lights when pressed. Confirm you are within normal operating range.
  • Inspect antenna: Locate the Mighty Mule opener’s antenna wire hanging from the head. Ensure it is intact, fully extended, and not coiled around metal objects.
  • Reprogram remote: Press the LEARN button on the opener until the indicator LED lights. Press the remote button within 30 seconds. Wait for confirmation (light flash or click) and test operation.
  • Reduce interference: Move LED bulbs, Wi‑Fi routers, or other RF devices away from the opener if possible. Try from different positions around the garage.
  • Receiver check: If multiple known-good remotes will not program and the antenna is intact, the RF receiver section of the control board may be defective and require board replacement.
