Obstruction in door path, Misaligned or faulty photo eyes, Excessive sensitivity setting, Binding door travel
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Keep children and pets away from the door. Do not bypass safety sensors.
- Check for obstructions: Inspect the floor, tracks, and door path for tools, debris, or ice buildup. Remove anything that could contact the door.
- Verify photo eyes: Confirm both photo eye LEDs are solid. Realign or clean them as needed. Replace if one LED will not stay lit.
- Inspect door travel: Manually move the door to feel for tight spots. Lubricate hinges and rollers with garage door lubricant and correct any visible track misalignment.
- Adjust sensitivity: Slightly decrease the sensitivity (increase force) on the close direction per the Mighty Mule manual, but never to the point where the door will not reverse when hitting a 2x4 laid flat on the floor.
- Re-test safety: Perform the 2x4 reversal test recommended by the manufacturer to ensure the safety system still functions correctly.
