Possible Causes
Shorted wall control or photo eye wiring, Incorrect accessory wiring, Internal short on control board, Reversed polarity on low-voltage terminals
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker. Verify power is off before touching any wiring.
- Disconnect accessories: Remove all low-voltage wires from the control board (wall console, photo eyes, keypads, etc.). Restore power and see if the 7-flash error clears.
- Isolate the fault: Reconnect one accessory circuit at a time, testing after each. When the error returns, you have identified the problematic circuit.
- Inspect wiring: On the bad circuit, look for crushed insulation, staples through the cable, or moisture at splices. Replace damaged wire runs.
- Check polarity and terminals: Ensure wires are on the correct Mighty Mule terminals as labeled in the manual. Do not mix photo eye and wall control terminals.
- Board replacement: If the error persists with all low-voltage wiring removed, the control board likely has an internal short and should be replaced.
