Possible Causes
Sensor wires reversed on terminal block, Broken or shorted sensor wire, Loose wire connection at sensor, Corroded terminal screws at opener head
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the Motorlift opener before working on wiring. Use a step ladder safely.
Steps to diagnose and repair:
- Verify terminal connections: Open the light lens or cover on the opener head. Locate the low-voltage terminal strip. Confirm the sensor wires are on the correct SENSOR terminals as indicated in the Motorlift wiring diagram (typically white to white, white/black to white/black).
- Check for reversed wires: If the two sensor wires are swapped or mixed with wall control wires, move them to the correct terminals and tighten the screws.
- Inspect wire run: Follow the sensor wires along the wall and ceiling. Look for staples driven too tight, cuts, or crushed sections. Repair with low-voltage garage door opener wire or replace the run if damaged.
- Check at the sensors: Remove each sensor from its bracket and inspect the back where the wires connect. Tighten any loose wire nuts or screw terminals.
- Restore power and test: Plug the opener back in. The sensor LEDs should be solid. Try closing the door. If the light no longer flashes twice, the wiring fault is corrected.
