Possible Causes
Shorted wall control button, Wall control wiring shorted, Defective wall console, Logic board input failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before working on low-voltage wiring.
Steps to troubleshoot:
- Test with remote only: Unplug the wall control wires from the opener terminal strip (usually marked R and W). Restore power and try operating the opener with a remote. If it works, the wall control or its wiring is faulty.
- Inspect wall control wiring: Follow the two-conductor wire from the opener to the wall button. Look for staples through the wire, cuts, or crushed sections. Repair or replace damaged wire.
- Test wall control: Remove the wall console from the wall and inspect the back for corrosion or burnt components. If the button sticks or the LED is off when connected correctly, replace the wall control.
- Reconnect and test: Attach new or known-good wall control and wiring to the opener terminals. Test operation.
- If still 9 flashes: The logic board input circuit may be defective. Replace the Motorlift logic/control board.
