Possible Causes

Limits not set after installation, Loss of memory due to power surge, Incorrect limit adjustment procedure, Faulty limit switch assembly

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Keep people and objects clear of the door while reprogramming travel limits.

Steps to correct:

  • Reset travel limits: Follow the Motorlift manual for your model. Typically, press and hold the SET or PROGRAM button until the display flashes, then use UP/DOWN buttons to move the door to the fully open and fully closed positions, confirming each with SET.
  • Run a full cycle: After programming, run the door from fully closed to fully open and back to ensure smooth travel.
  • Inspect limit switches (if mechanical): On chain or screw drive models with physical limit switches, check that the limit nuts or cams on the rail are not loose or broken. Adjust them so the door stops just at the floor and at full open.
  • Replace limit assembly if defective: If the opener cannot store limits or the switches do not actuate, replace the Motorlift limit switch assembly.
