Possible Causes
Short circuit on Nice flashing light output, Incorrect lamp wattage or type, Failed relay or triac on control board, Miswired external light
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect mains power before working on any light or accessory wiring.
- Check lamp load: Verify the connected flashing light or courtesy light matches the voltage and maximum wattage specified by Nice. Replace any oversized or incompatible lamps.
- Inspect wiring: At the control board terminals labeled LAMP, FLASH, or similar, ensure no strands are shorting between terminals. Follow the cable to the lamp and check for damage.
- Test without load: Disconnect the lamp wires from the board and restore power. If E8 clears, the external lamp or wiring is shorted. If E8 persists with no load, the board's output device is likely damaged.
- Replace lamp or fixture: Install a new, compatible flashing light or courtesy light assembly if the old one shows signs of water ingress or burning.
- Board repair: If the output remains dead and E8 continues, the control board's relay or triac may have failed; replacing the Nice control board is usually the practical solution.
