Possible Causes

Safety sensor eyes misaligned, Safety sensor wiring loose or damaged, Object blocking sensor beam, Dirty sensor lenses

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power to the opener at the outlet or breaker before touching wiring. Do not work on the door with the door in the open position without securing it.

  • 1. Inspect the photo eyes: Locate the safety sensors mounted near the bottom of the vertical tracks on both sides of the door. Check that both LEDs on the sensors are lit and steady (not flickering).
  • 2. Remove obstructions: Clear any objects, tools, or debris from the path between the sensors. Even thin items or spider webs can break the beam.
  • 3. Clean the lenses: Use a soft cloth and mild cleaner to gently wipe the sensor lenses. Avoid scratching the plastic.
  • 4. Realign the sensors: Loosen the wing nuts on the sensor brackets. Rotate or slide the sensors until both LEDs are solid. Tighten the wing nuts while holding alignment.
  • 5. Check wiring connections: With power still off, inspect the low-voltage wires from the sensors to the opener head. Ensure they are firmly connected to the correct terminals (usually marked for safety sensors) and not pinched or cut along the wall or track.
  • 6. Restore power and test: Plug the opener back in, then press the wall button. If the door now operates normally and the LED stops flashing 1 time, the issue is resolved. If not, the sensor or wiring may be defective and require replacement.
