Possible Causes

Failed radio receiver on logic board, Antenna wire broken or disconnected, Memory full or corrupted, Incompatible remote frequency

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power before handling the control board. Use only Overhead Door-compatible remotes.

  • 1. Verify remote batteries: Replace the battery in the remote with a fresh, correct type. Confirm the LED on the remote lights when pressed.
  • 2. Check antenna wire: Locate the thin antenna wire hanging from the opener head. Ensure it is intact, not cut short, and not wrapped around metal objects. Straighten it downward.
  • 3. Clear remote memory: Press and hold the LEARN/PROGRAM button on the opener until the indicator LED blinks or turns off (refer to your model instructions). This erases all remotes and keypads.
  • 4. Reprogram a remote: Press and release the LEARN/PROGRAM button, then press the remote button within 30 seconds. The opener light should flash or click to confirm programming. If the LED flashes 11 times instead, the receiver circuit is likely faulty.
  • 5. Test with a known-good remote: If available, try programming a different Overhead Door remote of the correct series (e.g., CodeDodger). If none will program, the receiver on the logic board has failed.
  • 6. Replace logic board or external receiver: Replace the opener's logic board with the correct Overhead Door part. As an alternative, install an external universal receiver and compatible remotes, wiring it to the wall button terminals.
