Safety first: Never increase force settings to compensate for a heavy or binding door. Fix door balance issues first.

• 1. Test door balance: Disconnect the opener using the emergency release. Lift the door halfway and release. It should stay in place. If it falls or rises, the springs need adjustment by a professional.
• 2. Inspect tracks and rollers: Look for bent tracks, flat-spotted rollers, or debris in the tracks. Clean the tracks (do not grease them) and lubricate the roller bearings and hinges with garage door lubricant.
• 3. Check for door damage: Inspect door sections for bends or damage that may cause binding. Repair or replace damaged sections.
• 4. Adjust down force: Locate the force adjustment screws or electronic settings on the opener head. Turn the down force slightly in the direction indicated to increase force (usually clockwise), making small adjustments and testing after each change. Do not exceed manufacturer recommendations.
• 5. Re-run travel setup (if applicable): On models with electronic travel programming, clear and reprogram open and close positions so the door stops just at the floor without excessive pressure.
• 6. Test safety reversal: Place a 2x4 board flat on the floor under the door. Close the door. It should reverse upon contacting the board. If it does not, reduce force and correct door issues before further use.
