Overhead Door opener LED flashes 6 times and door will not open fully or stops partway

Safety first: Disconnect power before adjusting hardware. Do not operate the opener with a visibly bent rail or loose header bracket.

• 1. Check for obstructions: Inspect the area above the door and along the rail. Ensure nothing is blocking the door or trolley near the open position (lights, storage items, low ceiling fixtures).
• 2. Inspect rail and header bracket: Look for a bent rail or a loose header bracket at the wall above the door. Tighten mounting bolts into solid framing. Replace a severely bent rail.
• 3. Adjust up travel limit: Locate the up travel adjustment screw or electronic setting. Increase the up travel slightly so the door opens fully without hitting the stops. Make small adjustments and test.
• 4. Test door manually: Disconnect the opener and lift the door fully by hand. If it is hard to open or will not stay open, the springs may be weak or misadjusted. Have a professional correct spring tension.
• 5. Inspect travel sensor/module: On DC belt-drive models, check the travel module or encoder on the rail for loose mounting or damage. Replace if the opener cannot consistently find the open position.
• 6. Restore power and test: After adjustments, run several full open/close cycles. If the 6-flash code persists, the motor or control board may be failing and require professional service.
