Safety first: Unplug the opener. If springs or cables are broken or off the drums, do not operate the opener; call a professional.

• 1. Inspect the door hardware: With the opener disconnected via the emergency release, move the door by hand. If it is extremely heavy or stuck, the problem is with the door (springs, cables, tracks). Have a door technician repair these components.
• 2. Inspect the drive system: Look at the chain, belt, or screw drive. Check for missing belt teeth, a loose chain, or a jammed screw carriage. Clear any debris and correct chain/belt tension per the manual.
