Garage door opens but will not close using remote on Overhead Door opener

Safety first: Verify the area under the door is clear before testing closing.

• 1. Check wall console lock: Many Overhead Door consoles have a lock or vacation button. If enabled, remotes may only open the door. Disable the lock and test again.
• 2. Verify safety sensors: Ensure both sensor LEDs are solid and aligned. A sensor fault can prevent closing from remotes while still allowing opening.
• 3. Reprogram remote: Clear and reprogram the remote to the opener following the manual. Test both open and close functions.
• 4. Test wall button: If the wall button can close the door normally but the remote cannot, the issue is likely with the remote or receiver programming.
• 5. Replace remote or logic board: Try a different Overhead Door remote. If multiple remotes have the same issue and sensors are good, the receiver section of the logic board may be faulty.
