Garage door will not close from remote or wall button unless wall button is held down continuously

Possible Causes
Blocked or misaligned photo eyes, Defective safety sensor, Broken sensor wire, Sunlight interference on sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Holding the wall button bypasses the safety sensors on many models. Use this only for testing and never as a permanent solution.
- 1. Inspect sensor LEDs: Check that both safety sensors near the floor have solid LEDs. If one is off or flickering, alignment or wiring is the issue.
- 2. Clear obstructions and clean lenses: Remove any items in the sensor path and clean the lenses with a soft cloth.
- 3. Realign sensors: Loosen the mounting brackets and adjust until both LEDs are solid. Tighten brackets while holding alignment.
- 4. Check for sunlight interference: If the sun shines directly into a sensor, shade it temporarily and test. If this resolves the issue, consider installing sun shields or slightly repositioning the sensors.
- 5. Inspect wiring: Look for damaged or loose wires at the sensors and opener terminals. Repair or replace as needed.
- 6. Test normal operation: Once sensors are working, the door should close with a single press of the wall button or remote without holding the button.
