Possible Causes
Tripped circuit breaker or GFCI, Unplugged power cord, Failed internal fuse, Defective logic board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not attempt to open a very heavy door manually if springs are broken. Check for broken springs before pulling the release.
- 1. Verify power at outlet: Plug a lamp or tester into the opener outlet. If it does not work, reset any tripped breaker or GFCI receptacle on that circuit.
- 2. Check opener plug and cord: Ensure the opener is fully plugged in and the cord is not damaged. Avoid using extension cords.
- 3. Inspect opener lights: If the opener has no lights or indicators at all, an internal fuse or the logic board power supply may have failed. Remove the cover and look for a replaceable fuse (if present). Replace only with the same rating.
- 4. Test wall button and remotes: If the opener has power (lights on) but does not respond, try the LEARN/PROGRAM button to see if the motor jogs. If not, the logic board may be defective.
- 5. Manually open the door: Pull the emergency release cord straight down to disengage the trolley, then lift the door by hand if it moves freely. Secure it fully open if you must park under it.
- 6. Replace logic board if no response: If power is confirmed and no controls operate the opener, replace the Overhead Door logic/control board.
