Door will not close from remote; opener beeps and reverses; display shows E2

Safety first: Keep people and pets clear of the door path. Be prepared to stop the door using the wall button if it behaves unexpectedly.

• Check for mechanical blockage: Ensure nothing is blocking the door travel (locks engaged, bent track, debris in tracks). Remove any obstruction.
• Reprogram down limit: On most Skylink openers, press and hold the SET/LEARN or DOWN limit button until the indicator flashes. Use the UP/DOWN buttons to move the door to the fully closed position, then press SET again to store. Refer to your specific Skylink model manual for exact button names.
• Inspect limit mechanism: If your Skylink unit uses mechanical limit screws, unplug power, remove the opener cover, and inspect the plastic limit nuts and threaded shaft. If the down limit nut is stripped or cracked, replace the limit switch assembly.
• Power cycle: Disconnect power for 30 seconds, then restore. Re‑test closing operation. If E2 returns immediately and limits cannot be stored, the control board may be faulty.
• When to replace parts: If the limit screws spin without moving the switches, or the limit switches do not click when actuated by hand, replace the Skylink limit switch assembly. If limits program correctly but are lost after each power cycle, suspect the Skylink main control board.
