Possible Causes
Blown internal fuse, Failed transformer, Shorted control board component, Surge damage
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker and unplug the opener before opening the housing. Capacitors and transformers can store energy.
- Check outlet and breaker: Verify the outlet has power and the breaker is not tripped. Reset if necessary.
- Inspect internal fuse: Remove the opener cover and locate any internal fuses on the control board. Replace blown fuses only with the same type and rating. If a new fuse blows immediately, there is a short that must be diagnosed.
- Look for burn marks: Examine the Skylink main control board for burnt components or discoloration. Surge damage often requires full board replacement.
- Transformer test: If equipped with a separate transformer, test its output with a multimeter. Replace the Skylink transformer if no output is present.
- Board replacement: If the transformer is good but the board does not power up, replace the Skylink main control board.
