Possible Causes
Reversed wall control wiring, Shorted wall console cable, Defective Skylink wall console, Faulty control board input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before working on low‑voltage wiring to avoid shorting the control board.
- Inspect wall console wiring: Remove the wall console from the wall. Verify the two low‑voltage wires are securely attached and not shorted together. Check for frayed insulation or staples driven through the cable.
- Check polarity: At the opener head, confirm the wall console wires are connected to the correct terminals (e.g., WALL PUSH BUTTON or similar) as indicated in the Skylink manual.
- Bypass test: Temporarily disconnect the wall console wires at the opener. Briefly short the two wall button terminals with a small insulated jumper wire. If the opener runs, the wall console or its cable is faulty.
- Replace components: If bypass works, replace the Skylink wall console or run a new low‑voltage cable. If bypass does not work and E7 remains, the wall control input on the Skylink main control board may be defective.
