Possible Causes
Emergency release not re‑engaged, Broken trolley carriage, Stripped drive gear, Loose chain/belt
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Keep clear of the door while re‑engaging the trolley. Ensure the door is fully closed or securely propped open.
- Check emergency release: Verify the red emergency release cord has not left the trolley in the disengaged position. Push the release lever toward the opener until it clicks back into the engaged position.
- Run opener: Activate the Skylink opener. The trolley should reconnect to the door arm when it reaches the closed position. If the motor runs but the chain/belt does not move, inspect the drive sprocket.
- Inspect trolley and rail: Look for cracks in the trolley carriage or missing teeth on the drive rack (if a direct‑drive model). Replace the Skylink trolley carriage if damaged.
- Check chain/belt tension: Adjust the tension nut on the chain/belt so there is about 1/4" sag at the midpoint. Overly loose drive can cause E9 travel errors.
