Possible Causes
Dry or worn rollers, Loose chain, Worn drive sprocket, Loose opener mounting hardware
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before tightening hardware or working near moving parts. Do not place fingers near rollers or hinges.
- Lubricate moving parts: Apply a garage‑door‑specific lubricant to metal rollers, hinges, and the torsion spring (if accessible). Do not over‑lubricate tracks.
- Adjust chain tension: On chain‑drive Skylink models, tighten the adjustment nut until there is about 1/4" sag at the midpoint of the chain. Do not overtighten.
- Inspect sprocket and rail: Check the drive sprocket on top of the opener for wear or wobble. Replace the Skylink drive sprocket kit if teeth are worn or the shaft is loose.
- Secure mounting: Tighten all opener mounting bolts and the header bracket. Loose hardware can cause vibration and noise.
