Possible Causes
Shorted wall button wiring, Defective Sommer wall station, Incorrectly wired external control, Moisture intrusion at wall button
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power to the opener before working on low‑voltage wiring.
- 1. Disconnect wall control wires: Remove the two wall button wires from the Sommer control board terminals. Restore power and see if E10 clears.
- 2. Inspect wall station: Open the wall button housing and check for corrosion, water damage, or crushed wires. Replace the wall station if contacts are shorted or badly corroded.
- 3. Check cable run: Follow the cable from the opener to the wall station. Look for staples driven too tightly, cuts, or splices. Replace damaged cable with similar gauge low‑voltage wire.
- 4. Test with a jumper: At the opener, briefly short the wall button terminals with a small insulated jumper wire. If the door operates normally and no E10 appears, the wiring or wall station is at fault.
- 5. Reconnect or replace: Install a new Sommer‑compatible wall control if needed and reconnect wires with correct polarity if specified.
