Possible Causes
Shorted safety edge input, Incorrect wiring of external safety devices, Faulty wireless safety edge transmitter, Misconfigured input mode on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Note: This applies to Sommer models with external safety edge or additional safety inputs.
- 1. Identify external devices: Determine if your opener has a wired or wireless safety edge, loop detector, or other external safety device connected.
- 2. Disconnect external inputs: Remove wires from the safety edge or auxiliary safety terminals on the control board. Power up and check if E11 clears.
- 3. Inspect devices: Check the safety edge strip for physical damage or water intrusion. For wireless edges, replace batteries and ensure the transmitter is not crushed.
- 4. Verify wiring: Reconnect wiring according to the Sommer wiring diagram, ensuring normally‑closed vs normally‑open contacts are correctly used.
- 5. Replace faulty device: If reconnecting a particular device re‑triggers E11, replace that safety edge or accessory.
