Possible Causes
Sensor wires reversed or shorted, Incorrect jumper on sensor terminals, Faulty sensor internal electronics
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Never bypass safety sensors permanently.
- 1. Verify wiring at opener: Ensure the sensor wires are on the correct terminals as labeled by Sommer (often 2‑wire polarity sensitive).
- 2. Inspect for shorts: Look for bare wires touching at the back of the opener or at the sensor brackets.
- 3. Temporarily swap sensors: Swap left and right sensors to see if the problem follows one unit. Replace the defective sensor pair if so.
- 4. Remove any unauthorized jumpers: If someone has installed a wire jumper to bypass sensors, remove it and install proper Sommer photo eyes.
