Possible Causes

Close limit set above floor level, Down force set too low, Door hitting a high spot in floor, Warped door bottom section

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Keep the door opening clear while testing. Do not stand under the door.

  • Check for obstructions: Ensure nothing is under the door path, including uneven concrete or objects.
  • Adjust close limit: Locate the close/down limit adjustment screw or electronic setting on the opener head. Turn it slightly in the direction indicated to increase travel so the door can reach the floor.
  • Adjust down force slightly: If the door still reverses just before closing, increase the down force slightly. Test with a 2x4 laid flat under the door; the door should reverse when it contacts the board.
  • Inspect door bottom seal: A very stiff or oversized bottom seal can cause premature reversal. Replace with a compatible Wayne Dalton bottom seal if needed.
