Possible Causes

Wall console lock button engaged, Stuck wall console switch, Low-voltage wiring short between wall console and head unit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Do not work on the opener with the door in a partially open position. If the door is open, keep people and pets clear of the opening.

  • Check vacation/lock button: On most Wayne Dalton wall consoles, a lock or vacation button disables remote operation. Press and hold the lock button for 3–5 seconds until the LED changes from flashing to solid. Test the remote again.
  • Test wall console operation: Press the main door button on the wall console. If the opener runs from the wall button but not from remotes, the lockout was active. If it still does not run, continue.
  • Inspect wall console: Remove the wall console from the wall (power to opener ON is okay for low-voltage wires). Check for stuck buttons or contamination. Lightly clean around the buttons and reinstall.
  • Check low-voltage wiring: At the opener head, disconnect the two small-gauge wires going to the wall console terminals. Briefly short the two wall control terminals with an insulated screwdriver. If the opener runs, the wall console or its wiring is faulty. Replace the wall console or run new 2-conductor bell wire as needed.
  • When to stop: If the LED pattern persists and shorting the terminals does not start the opener, the logic board may be defective. At this point, contact a qualified garage door technician.
