Possible Causes

Force adjustment set too low, Internal force sensor failure, Binding door causing excessive force, Miscalibrated travel limits

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Force settings control how hard the door can push before reversing. Do not set force higher than necessary; this can create a crushing hazard.

  • Check door balance and hardware: Disconnect the opener and move the door by hand. Correct any binding or spring issues before adjusting force.
  • Adjust force settings: Locate the "Up Force" and "Down Force" adjustment screws or electronic settings on the opener head. Increase each slightly (about 1/8 turn or one step at a time) and test. The door should move smoothly and reverse when it hits a solid object like a 2x4 laid flat under the door.
  • Reprogram travel: If your Wayne Dalton model uses electronic travel/force calibration, follow the manual to run a full open/close programming cycle so the opener can learn the door load.
  • Persistent F10: If the error remains even with a free-moving door and moderate force settings, the internal force sensor or logic board may be defective and require replacement.
