Possible Causes
Dry chain or screw drive, Worn drive gear, Dry door hinges and rollers, Loose rail mounting hardware
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before lubricating or tightening hardware near moving parts.
- Lubricate drive: For chain drives, apply a light garage door chain lubricant. For screw drives, apply the manufacturer-recommended grease sparingly along the screw. Do not over-grease.
- Lubricate door hardware: Apply silicone-based lubricant to rollers (except nylon wheels), hinges, and bearings. Avoid getting lubricant on the tracks.
- Inspect drive gear: Remove the opener cover and inspect the main drive gear for wear. Replace if teeth are worn or missing.
- Tighten hardware: Check and tighten rail mounting bolts, header bracket bolts, and opener mounting straps to reduce vibration noise.
