Possible Causes
Worn motor shaft seal, Corroded grind chamber, Cracked lower housing, Long-term chemical or salt exposure inside chamber
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Disconnect power and do not operate a leaking disposal; water can reach electrical components.
- Step 1 – Confirm leak origin: Dry the exterior of the unit, then run water without operating the motor. If water drips from the very bottom center or through the motor housing, the internal seal is compromised.
- Step 2 – Inspect for external plumbing leaks: Rule out leaks from the sink flange, dishwasher inlet, or discharge elbow that might be running down the housing.
- Step 3 – Evaluate age and condition: Internal seal and chamber corrosion are not field-serviceable on most AmazonCommercial disposals. Replacement of the entire unit is the standard remedy.
- Step 4 – Replace unit: Turn OFF the breaker, disconnect wiring, remove the discharge piping, and twist the disposal off the mounting ring. Install a new compatible AmazonCommercial disposal following the manufacturer’s instructions.
