Possible Causes
Deteriorated sink flange gasket, Loose mounting ring on AmazonCommercial EZ-mount assembly, Insufficient plumber's putty under sink flange, Cracked sink flange
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Turn OFF power and unplug the disposal. Support the unit from below before loosening any mounting hardware.
- Step 1 – Confirm leak source: Fill the sink with a few inches of water, then observe from below with a flashlight. Look for water seeping around the sink flange, not from side fittings.
- Step 2 – Tighten mounting ring: On EZ-mount style AmazonCommercial units, use a screwdriver to gently tighten the three mounting screws evenly. Do not overtighten, as this can deform the gasket.
- Step 3 – Re-seal the sink flange (if needed): If tightening does not stop the leak, you must remove the disposal from the mount, then remove the sink flange from above. Clean old putty or gasket material, apply a fresh bead of plumber's putty under the flange lip, and reinstall with the rubber gasket and backup ring from below.
- Step 4 – Reattach disposal: Re-hang the unit on the mounting ring, lock it into place, and retighten screws. Reconnect electrical and plumbing.
- Step 5 – Test for leaks: Refill the sink and check again from below.
