Possible Causes
Loose discharge elbow screws, Damaged fiber or rubber discharge gasket, Misaligned 1-1/2" tailpiece, Cracked discharge elbow
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Turn OFF power and do not operate the disposal while fittings are loose. Place a towel or pan under the unit to catch water.
- Step 1 – Identify leak point: Run water and observe the joint between the disposal discharge outlet and the drain elbow or tailpiece.
- Step 2 – Tighten fasteners: If your AmazonCommercial model uses a metal discharge elbow with two screws, gently tighten them evenly to compress the gasket.
- Step 3 – Replace gasket if worn: Turn off water, remove the screws, and pull off the elbow. Replace the fiber/rubber gasket between the elbow and disposal outlet. Reinstall and tighten screws evenly.
- Step 4 – Check slip-joint connections: Ensure the slip nuts and washers on the tailpiece and trap are properly seated and not cross-threaded.
- Step 5 – Test again: Run water for several minutes and check for drips.
