• Check hose routing: Ensure the dishwasher drain hose rises to a high loop under the countertop or connects to an air gap before dropping to the American Standard disposal inlet.
• Clear air gap: If an air gap is installed, remove the cap and clean out any debris.
• Inspect hose for clogs: Disconnect the hose from the disposal and flush it with water. Replace if restricted.
• Re-route if needed: Adjust hose routing so that the disposal outlet is not higher than the hose loop, preventing backflow.
