Possible Causes
Open motor winding, Failed internal overload that will not reset, Broken internal lead wire, Defective internal switch on batch-feed models
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Unplug the disposal or turn OFF power at the breaker before testing.
- Step 1 – Verify power: Use a receptacle tester or multimeter to confirm power at the outlet when the switch is ON.
- Step 2 – Check reset button: Press the red reset button on the bottom of the Astracast unit.
- Step 3 – Test continuity: With the unit unplugged, a technician can test motor winding continuity at the terminals. An open circuit indicates a failed motor.
- Step 4 – Replace unit: Internal motor circuit failures are not user-repairable; replace the disposal.
Warning: Do not attempt to open the sealed motor housing.
