How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Turn OFF power at the breaker and do not operate the disposal until the flange is secure.
- Step 1 – Check flange movement: From above, press down and wiggle the sink flange. Any movement indicates a loose flange.
- Step 2 – Tighten retaining ring: From below, tighten the sink flange retaining ring evenly. If it bottoms out without securing the flange, the putty or gasket may be compressed or missing.
- Step 3 – Re-seal flange: If tightening fails, remove the disposal and flange, clean the sink opening, and reinstall with fresh plumber's putty or Astracast gasket.
- Step 4 – Reattach disposal: Reinstall the unit, ensuring all mounting lugs are fully engaged.
- Step 5 – Test: Run water and operate the disposal, confirming the flange remains stationary.
