Astracast disposal makes a rattling noise only at startup or shutdown, but runs smoothly otherwise.

Safety First: Turn OFF power at the breaker before inspecting.

• Step 1 – Inspect grinding chamber: With a light, check that impeller lugs are intact and swing freely. Some clicking at startup can be normal.
• Step 2 – Check mounting ring: Ensure the Astracast mounting ring is fully locked and screws are tight.
• Step 3 – Listen carefully: Briefly run the unit with water and listen. If the noise is minor and only at start/stop, it may be normal operation.
• Step 4 – Monitor over time: If the noise worsens or is accompanied by vibration, consider replacing the unit.

Warning: Sudden changes in noise level can indicate developing mechanical failure; investigate promptly.
