Possible Causes
Worn batch-feed stopper magnet or actuator, Misaligned lid sensor in Astracast batch-feed model, Debris preventing stopper from seating fully, Damaged batch-feed switch mechanism
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Unplug the disposal or turn OFF power at the breaker before inspecting the stopper mechanism.
- Step 1 – Clean stopper and opening: Remove the batch-feed stopper and clean it and the sink opening thoroughly to remove debris.
- Step 2 – Inspect stopper: Check for cracks, missing magnets, or worn sealing surfaces. Replace with an Astracast-compatible stopper if damaged.
- Step 3 – Test positions: Restore power and test the disposal by rotating the stopper through its operating positions. Note any dead spots.
- Step 4 – Internal switch: If the unit only works intermittently despite a good stopper, the internal batch-feed switch may be failing and the unit should be replaced.
Warning: Do not attempt to bypass the batch-feed safety switch; it prevents accidental activation.
