Possible Causes
Running disposal for extended periods without rest, Grinding very hard or fibrous materials, Restricted motor cooling due to dust and grease buildup, Partially seized motor bearings
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Turn OFF the wall switch and allow the unit to cool before pressing the reset button.
- Step 1 – Allow cooling time: Wait 10–20 minutes for the motor to cool. Do not repeatedly press the reset button while the unit is hot.
- Step 2 – Clear chamber: With power OFF, remove any large or hard items from the grinding chamber and ensure the plate rotates freely.
- Step 3 – Clean exterior: Wipe dust and grease from the motor housing and vents to improve cooling.
- Step 4 – Reset: Press the red reset button until it clicks. Restore power and test with a light load and plenty of cold water.
- Step 5 – Monitor frequency: If the overload trips frequently under normal use, the motor or bearings are likely failing and the unit should be replaced.
Warning: Repeated overheating shortens motor life and can lead to electrical failure.
