Possible Causes
Missing or damaged Astracast sound baffle, Hardened or missing rubber mounting gasket, Loose mounting ring transmitting vibration to sink, Thin or resonant sink without proper support
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Turn OFF power at the breaker before working under the sink.
- Step 1 – Check sound baffle: Inspect the rubber splash/sound baffle at the sink opening. Replace if torn, missing, or hardened.
- Step 2 – Inspect mounting gasket: Verify the rubber mounting gasket between the Astracast unit and sink flange is present and not compressed flat. Replace if deteriorated.
- Step 3 – Tighten mounting ring: Ensure the mounting ring is evenly tightened to minimize rattling while maintaining gasket compression.
- Step 4 – Add sink support: If the sink itself flexes, add bracing or support to reduce resonance.
- Step 5 – Consider upgraded model: Some Astracast models include enhanced sound insulation; upgrading may be the best solution for noise-sensitive environments.
Warning: Do not insert foam or loose materials around the motor; they can overheat and pose a fire risk.
