Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Turn OFF power at the breaker and unplug the disposal if it uses a plug. Do not work under the sink with the unit energized.
- Step 1 – Confirm leak source: Fill the sink with a few centimeters of water and observe the flange area from below. Look for water seeping around the top of the Astracast mounting assembly.
- Step 2 – Tighten mounting ring: Use a screwdriver or supplied Astracast mounting tool to evenly tighten the mounting ring. Do not overtighten to the point of deforming the sink.
- Step 3 – Re-seal flange if needed: If tightening does not stop the leak, support the disposal from below, release the mounting ring, and remove the unit. From above, remove the sink flange and old putty or gasket. Clean the sink opening thoroughly.
- Step 4 – Apply new seal: Roll a bead of plumber's putty or fit the Astracast-approved rubber gasket under the flange lip. Press the flange into the sink opening and reinstall the mounting hardware from below, tightening evenly.
- Step 5 – Reinstall disposal and test: Reattach the Astracast unit to the mounting ring, reconnect plumbing and power, then fill the sink and check for leaks.
Warning: Support the disposal securely while loosening the mounting ring to avoid injury or damage to plumbing.
