Disposal works but there is a constant dripping sound inside the unit and minor rust is visible in the grinding chamber.

• Step 1 – Inspect chamber: Use a flashlight to check for pitting or flaking metal. Light surface rust is common and not immediately harmful.
• Step 2 – Improve drainage: After each use, run water for 20–30 seconds to flush all debris and prevent standing water.
• Step 3 – Clean and protect: Periodically grind ice cubes and baking soda to clean the chamber. Avoid leaving acidic foods sitting in the disposal.
• Step 4 – Monitor over time: If rust progresses to holes or leaks, the disposal must be replaced.
