Possible Causes
Deteriorated plumber's putty under sink flange, Loose mounting assembly, Cracked sink flange, Warped stainless sink surface
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Turn OFF power at the breaker and disconnect the power cord or wiring. Place a bucket under the disposal to catch water.
- Step 1 – Confirm leak source: Fill the sink with water and observe from below. If water seeps from the top of the disposal housing, the sink flange seal is leaking.
- Step 2 – Remove the disposal: Support the unit from below, rotate the mounting ring counterclockwise to release the disposal from the sink flange, and set it aside.
- Step 3 – Reseal the sink flange: From above, remove the sink flange. Clean old putty or sealant from the sink opening. Apply a generous bead of plumber's putty under the flange lip and press it into the sink opening.
- Step 4 – Reassemble mounting hardware: From below, reinstall the mounting gasket, backup ring, and mounting ring per the Electrolux installation instructions. Tighten evenly to compress the putty.
- Step 5 – Reinstall disposal and test: Reattach the disposal to the mounting ring, reconnect plumbing and power, then fill the sink and check for leaks.
